In honor of Inauguration Day we're cooking red, white and blue!
On top of our homemade burger buns made from my artisan bread recipe we slathered some homemade aioli. Atop that is a tender grilled antelope burger with roasted red peppers (there's the red!), melted blue cheese (there's the blue!) and sweet onion (there's the white!).
I'm sending this over to Damaris at Within the Corners of my Kitchen. Check out her round-up to see other patriotic goodies!
Awesome, I love a good burger. I also have an award for you, here are the details: http://icookstuff.blogspot.com/2009/01/some-tv-announcements-and-award.html
ReplyDeleteThat looks tasty! How was it?
ReplyDeleteThe burger looks good, but the roll looks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea! Enjoy the burger and the day as well :)
ReplyDeleteCame here from my good friend Suldog's blog. God bless America on this special day.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah baby. That's one good lookin' burger.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting burger :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I've missed some of your posts Karen I've been battling a terrible cold. THe burger looks so good! I love the homemade rolls too!
ReplyDeleteYUMMY! That is one good-looking burger. Where do you get your antelope?
ReplyDeleteOh, and those homemade buns look killer!
I love your patriotic burger! I've never put bleu cheese on mine; I usually go with Cheddar.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that your chili is posted in the round-up at Foods and Flavors of San Antonio. Come on over and see what everyone else did with their chili. :)
Those patriotic burgers look fabulous. Blue cheese is never a bad thing & it looks perfect with that great looking bun. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I love your patriotism :)
ReplyDeleteI love blue cheese on a burger, on steak, on any meat pretty much!! What a great burger! Thanks for sharing it!!
ReplyDeleteYummy...except the antelope...I have never had it! So maybe I would actually like it, if I tried it :-) I imagine it would taste like regular hamburger meat...or is it gamier??
ReplyDeleteThe blue cheese looks REALLY good though!
Thanks for the comment about Mrs. Obama's dress...I agree with you...I didn't care for it. She should have worn a brighter color that showed off her nice figure!
I have never eaten antelope..does it taste like deer meat? Well, they look good anyways. You asked if you would be able to substitute puff pastry for the crostada..I really don't see why not. You would want to make sure to poke some wholes in it first so it does not over puff. I think it would taste great. If you try it let me know how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI crave a good burger about once a week.... never heard of an antelope burger though. If it tastes as good as it looks, I'm in!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! What a great day Tuesday was! I just love the girl's J. Crew clothing too - I want to be 7 again. I made cupcakes and bars to celebrate.
