Is there a difference between stuffing and dressing? Is it stuffing if it's cooked inside the bird and dressing if it's cooked in a pan? Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm not sure, but sometimes I call it dressing and sometimes I call it stuffing.
Today, we're using stuffing.
This is an easy and delicious light dinner, or you can serve it for breakfast.
Put some leftover stuffing into a ramekin and press it on the bottom and up along the sides. Put a teaspoon of butter and a teaspoon of cream in the ramekin and broil on high for three minutes, or until the cream and butter are hot and bubbly.
Crack an egg and pour it into the ramekin. Sprinkle with herbs, salt and pepper. Broil for 5-6 minutes until whites are almost set. The eggs will continue cooking after you remove them from under the broiler.
This is very good... the stuffing gets crispy on the edges and the eggs were done perfectly! If you haven't used up all your stuffing (or dressing) yet, you might want to give this a try!
I'm sending this dish over to Natasha at 5 Star Foodie for this month's Makeover Challenge: Create a turkey- or any other Thanksgiving leftover dish. Don't forget to take a look at the round-up page of leftovers that she'll post on Dec 7.
This is a yummy sounding idea, Karen! I still have some stuffing, or dressing,left...I like the crispy edges.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous idea! Please let me know if you would like to submit this for my 5 Star makeover event for Thanksgiving leftovers - this would be a great entry

I didnt host this year so I have no leftovers, however I am hosting xmas eve and will be saving this for my stuffing leftovers in december. Sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteI will keep this in mind for the next turkey/stuffing dinner. My stuffing is gone as of yesterday! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea! Sounds delicious and I'll give it a try, believe me, got plenty of left over dressing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and commenting because that led me to your wonderful blog!
ReplyDeleteI love this stuffing/egg idea and I'm now regretting that I have no leftover stuffing.
This is a very different use for leftover stuffing and it sounds absolutely delicious.
ReplyDeleteI've never done this! It sounds delicious and easy to do. My bad!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea except I ran out of stuffing. It was the first thing that went when all the leftovers came out. I will have to make double next year so that I can do this!
ReplyDeletewow...this looks very good and very easy... Breakfast tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea Karen! Love this idea ~ thank you so much for sharing it. xo
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Will definitely try this one.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for complimenting my newsletter, that meant a lot to me! Hopefully you can make some "cookies" with your grand-daughter. I will be having my kids make those cookies again and have some of their friends over too.

I'm from the camp that believes it's not stuffing unless it was actually stuffed at one time. Nothing cooked outside of a bird quite matches it, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great entry! I love baked eggs.
ReplyDeleteI have made turkey hash before, but I love this idea, Karen. I call it stuffing too.
ReplyDeleteNow see I'd love this,I casn just imagine how flavorful it would be!
ReplyDeleteWe always call it stuffing in my house, but that isn't really saying much since my family is not really the foodie-type. Call it whatever you want!
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious. I love stuffing and might make some just for all the leftovers. No turkey required.
