This is reveal day for The Secret Recipe Club's Group B!
My assignment this month was Melissa's blog, Smells Like Brownies.
Before I visited Melissa's blog, I thought I was in for a lot of sweet treats. Well, I can attest that Melissa's kitchen smells like more than brownies. It also smells like Garlic-Chili-Lime Acorn Sqaush, Boozy Mushroom Ragu, Pan-Seared Citrus Salmon, and, (okay, I have to show you some brownies) Coffee Brownies!
Although the Boozy Mushrom Ragu almost made the #1 spot as my recipe choice, I ended up choosing to make Beer Bread for two reasons. One, I seldom make quick breads, so this was something easy and I didn't even have to get my KA out... just mix this up in a bowl with a spatula. Two, (and truth be told, the real reason I chose this recipe) I wanted to make Melissa's grilled cheese sandwich using this bread!
Onions, oregano, Worcestershire, Dijon, and cheese... grilled in a panini press. Don't have one? Use your George Foreman grill!
This bread smelled so good and has a slightly sweet taste. The grilled cheese was wonderful with a glass of cold beer.
Take a minute to look at all the other scrumptious recipes on the blog hope below! Thanks for two great recipes, Melissa!

Beer Bread - adapted from here
3 cups sifted flour

3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
12 oz. beer
1/4 cup butter, melted
Sift all dry ingredients into a medium size bowl. Add beer and stir until well combined. Place dough into a 9x5 loaf pan that has been sprayed lightly with cooking spray. Pour melted butter over the dough. Bake at 375F for one hour. Do not preheat oven. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
